W&H LED technology illuminates IDS 2009!
|
Ready for imitation: the slogan under which W&H launched the first sterilizable LED turbines, the Synea TA-97 C LED and TA-98 C LED, at IDS 2007. Two years on at IDS 2009, W&H is still leading the way in LED technology.
|
From the opening day of the exhibition, the number of visitors to the W&H stand exceeded all expectation. The main focus of attention were the new Alegra contra-angle handpieces with sterilizable LED and generator: the fact that these new contra-angle handpieces generate their light independently of the drive unit (motor light-controlled or non-light-controlled) made the latest W&H product development the most popular of the LED instruments. It was closely followed by the Synea LED turbines, the surgical instruments with LED and generator which can now be dismantled as well as Pyon 2, the piezo scaler with a sterilizable 5-output LED ring on the handpiece.
There was also great interest in Prozone, the new ozone generator: the press and public alike heard that W&H will shortly be publishing the first studies on this subject as well as the advantages of an ozone-oxygen treatment, which would appear to be perfect for oral disinfection due to its straightforward generation, use and consistency.

Speaker’s Corner
The moderated forum for specialist talks and product presentations was well worth visiting. The topics covered in the Speaker’s Corner were as varied as the show itself: implant systems, dental prostheses, cosmetic dentistry, CAD/CAM, laser technology and practice organization were just some of the issues presented. A continuously updated overview of the participants as well as the topics and the details of the talks could be downloaded from IDS 2009. The future of CAD/CAM technology was also the subject of presentations, for example a therapy concept for the immediate treatment of toothless jaws. Speaker’s Corner was the most popular supporting event at IDS.
