How W&H helps

“People have Priority” is not just empty words: it is the motto which we at W&H put into practice every day. In our anniversary year, we are focusing our full attention on people, because people and their wellbeing are always the number one priority at W&H.

In its anniversary year, W&H will be supporting the humanitarian organization SOS Children's Villages. W&H will secure financing for the Family Strengthening Programme in Kakiri, Uganda for more than two years.

Celebrate with us and help us support SOS Children’s Villages.

SOS Children’s Villages in detail
SOS Children’s Villages is a private, international welfare organisation for socially disadvantaged and orphaned children with no religious or political affiliations. It was founded in 1949 by Hermann Gmeiner in Innsbruck (Austria).

The aim of SOS Children’s Villages is to provide children who have to grow up without any parents with a new, permanent home, the warmth and security of a family and a good education. The children and young people are supported until they become independent. More information.

SOS Children’s Villages — Activities in Uganda
SOS Children’s Villages started its work in Uganda in 1988 with the signing of an intergovernmental agreement. The first project was the SOS children’s village in the small town of Kakiri not far from the capital Kampala. The location within the Luwero triangle was specifically chosen because this area of Uganda was particularly badly affected by war in 1985. SOS Children’s Villages also erected a nursery, primary and secondary school and a medical centre on the same site, thereby helping to improve the living conditions in the local area. In June 1997, after many years of continued efforts, the "SOS Children's Village of Uganda Trust" was founded. Uganda’s First Lady, Mrs Museveni, has been the patron of the work of SOS Children’s Villages in Uganda since 2007. More information.
