W&H - an Austrian family company
It has always been people who, with their spirit and commitment, have contributed to the successful development of W&H.
W&H has a tradition of considering business relationships from a human viewpoint. In 1946, Peter Malata, graduate engineer, became factory manager of W&H. The company which was founded in 1890 in Berlin by Jean Weber and Hugo Hampel, moved to Bürmoos in the middle of the 1940s.
On 20 May 1958, ownership of W&H was passed to Peter and Hilde Malata. This was an extraordinarily happy day for the family: at 4:00 am, their son Peter was born. Unparalleled growth set in: in 1964, W&H Deutschland was opened, followed by subsidiaries in France, Italy, Sweden and Great Britain.
Today, W&H is represented in over 90 countries around the world. Peter Malata Jr., graduate engineer, took over the company on 1 December 1996. New management structures were implemented: W&H was rebuilt into a powerful and forward-looking team organisation which responds flexibly to the needs of the customer. In 1999, W&H Sterilization was opened near Bergamo in Italy. The company effortlessly built on the W&H success story.
