Michael V. Martin, Professor Oral Microbiology
«Microorganisms are universal and know no borders, national as well as professional protectionism are therefore counterproductive. In order to reduce the global burden of infectious diseases and to minimize further development of antibiotic resistance – AESIC offers a unique opportunity to share information and techniques in infection control which should help to safeguard patients.» |
The founder members* are delighted to report the establishment of AESIC, the Association for European Safety and Infection Control in Dentistry, in Lausanne, Switzerland and on-line at www.aesic.eu. It is their intention that AESIC will be the definitive European organization for information on infection control & prevention in the dental environment.

AESIC, continued focus on increasing knowledge

AESIC, leading forum for promoting a European consensus
Although the EU has enforced a number of standards regarding hygiene, disinfection, decontamination and sterilization, there are discrepancies in interpretation from one dental practice to another, let alone from one country to another. The time has therefore arrived for AESIC to make constructive propositions in order to unify these guidelines and, most importantly, their application: thereby making AESIC the leading forum for promoting a European consensus in the field of infection control & prevention.

AESIC, reference for best practice
AESIC’s mission is to be the point of reference for best practice for infection prevention in the dental environment for all those involved in the European dental industry, including dental professionals, dental students, academics, associations, manufacturers, distributors and policy-makers.
