From 7th - 8th September 2013, the ITI Annual meeting was held at the Taipei-Taiwan International Convention Centre. Christian Stempf, hygiene advisor of the W&H Group, was associated with the main speaker Dr. Fugazzotto from Boston-USA to lecture about “pre and post-surgery hygiene procedures. This connection was meant to stress the importance of asepsis to guarantee successful invasive surgical procedures and patient safety.

ITI stands for the International Team for Implantology, founded in 1980. The ITI is a unique network of professionals in implant dentistry and related tissue regeneration. It is a non-profit academic organization of clinicians and researchers active in Research, Development and Education and holds its annual meeting every year in the Taipei International Convention Centre.

Christian Stempf, hygiene adviser of the W&H Group, held two lectures on Saturday with special focus on pre and post-surgery hygiene protocols. He shared his experience with approx. 50 ITI members with interesting pictures and videos he recently recorded in a top clinic in Aix-en-Provence (France) where he was welcomed to follow their processes, before, during and after surgery.

More detailed information was provided during the third lecture on Sunday, which was open to any dentist for a fee. In his speech on “the advancements in infection prevention and sterilization“ Christian spoke about infection prevention, hygiene protocol, EN13060 (the European Norm for water steam sterilizers) and specific hygiene protocol for transmission instruments.

The attendants showed great interest to these topics as well as the W&H products on display in the main hall. Prof. Alex Tsai, the moderator of the event, was very proud to welcome 250 visitors on Sunday especially considering the large number of events taking place in Taipei almost every week-end.

This year Tesco, a long-time W&H partner in Hong-Kong and Taiwan, has co-sponsored this event and took the excellent opportunity to meet with well-reputed dentists as well as with representatives of leading dental institutions worldwide.
