High-tech and sustainable

Manufacturing of medical products at W&H

Energy consumption plays a key role in terms of sustainability. At W&H, we are committed to working towards efficient and eco-friendly solutions in all areas possible. Our production plant in Bürmoos, Austria, is a pivotal point of where many “green” measures can be taken. Since 2021, the building’s roof sports 1,800 photovoltaic modules. The technology enables us to use our own renewable solar energy for 10% of the site’s needs. This is a big step towards a positive energy balance.

Efficient production processes

In our daily production processes, there are highly efficient standards in place: for the different kinds of medical products, we use materials such as premium steels, nickel, silver, non-ferrous metals and sterilizable plastics. Metals are used in a way that saves resources. They are separated into types, reprocessed, and recycled. Oil is also reused for the production cycle. What’s more, compressed air and ventilation systems in the W&H production department are operated using heat recovery.
The temperature at the site is regulated by using underground water for heating as well as cooling the entire building in an eco-friendly way.

Although production is automated, employees are responsible for the whole process – from programming the machine to the final quality inspection of the product. Manufacturing with the highest expertise is what W&H is all about.
