W&H among the top three Austrian exporters!

It’s bronze for W&H! An expert jury has honoured W&H Dentalwerk Bürmoos GmbH with the Austrian Export Award 2019. As part of Exporters' Nite 2019, held on 24 June in Vienna, the family-run company was selected as one of the winners in the 'Industry’ category. The accolade, given out by the Austrian Economic Chambers (WKO), is awarded to the country’s top exporters each year.

“We are delighted to receive the Austrian Export Award and are proud of our employees who make this kind of success on the international stage possible”, said W&H President Peter Malata, after he and his wife Mrs Daniela Malata, Vice President Human Resources, accepted the Export Award 2019 from WKO President Dr Harald Mahrer in the city’s “MuseumsQuartier”. The AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA, a government body and part of the Austrian Economic Chambers awarded the trophy for the 25th time. The awards help to shine a spotlight on the international involvement of domestic companies that are driving the economic upswing in Austria thanks to their strong export figures. With an export quota of 98%, W&H is among the top exporters.

W&H software and hardware solutions are used in dental practices, dental clinics and in maxillofacial surgery. The medical technology company distributes its products in 110 countries and operates numerous branch offices worldwide. This process involves selling products via general importers. The USA, Europe and Asia are among the most important sales markets. “Our high export quota enables us to strengthen our position on the world market”, explains Peter Malata. The company employs 1,200 people worldwide, 720 of whom work at its headquarters in Bürmoos near Salzburg.

Strong presence on the world market

Numerous innovations in modern dentistry have their origins at W&H. In the past, multiple products developed at Bürmoos have gone on to establish themselves as the international state-of-the-art. In 2018, for example, the company’s technological strength was honoured with the Austrian State Prize for Innovation for its ‘Primea Advanced Air’ dental turbine. The innovation leader from Salzburg is taking an important step with the worldwide rollout of its solutions philosophy. “We are not only focused on developing products but also offer solutions that support the entire treatment process”, emphasises W&H's President. The introduction of the new ioDent® system, for example, is intended to network products in dental practices and provide added value through new services. This represents a new benchmark in digitisation for W&H.

W&H is also now applying its unrivalled expertise from the dental sector in the medical sector. The company launched its new range of sterilizers and surgical devices for medical use in hospitals and clinics in autumn 2018 under the brand W&H Med. “With W&H Med, we want to open up new sales markets in the medical sector worldwide.” So, from now on, medical customers will also benefit from W&H’s high quality products.
