As medical director of the Dental Clinic at Sigmund Freud Private University in Vienna, DDr. Wolfgang Manschiebel and his team face a high patient turnover every day. Dr José Carlos Rosas Díaz, former Director of the School of Stomatology at the Universidad Privada San Juan Bautista (UPSJB) in Lima, Peru, holds a master’s degree in stomatology and serves as a researcher at the UPSJB. He is a specialist in Comprehensive Oral Rehabilitation, Comprehensive Oral Implantology, and Periodontology. In the interview, he explains how piezosurgical techniques enable a more precise and tissue-preserving extraction of impacted wisdom teeth, thereby reducing postoperative discomfort such as pain and swelling.

Piezo surgery allows for precise, tissue sparing osteotomy during third molar extraction and contributes to a safe and well controlled surgical procedure. It facilitates third molar extraction by eliminating the need for chisels or rotary instruments during the osteotomy that provides surgical access to the wisdom tooth.
