When it comes to equipping the dental clinic, there is only one standard: the patients

As medical director of the Dental Clinic at Sigmund Freud Private University in Vienna, DDr. Wolfgang Manschiebel and his team face a high patient turnover every day. To meet this demand, the SFU Dental Clinic features five specialised departments with a total of 16 treatment units and two operating theatres. In order to ensure optimal patient safety, the clinic has invested in state-of-the-art technical equipment – particularly from the manufacturer W&H.

„Whether you are an experienced clinician or a junior dentist, everyone can master the devices and instruments in no time“, emphasizes DDr Wolfgang Manschiebel.

“In 2013, I began my academic career, and since 2020 I have served as the medical director of the SFU Dental Clinic. I also run a small private practice. My first experience with W&H dates back to 1996 – almost 30 years ago – when I first worked with the manufacturer’s handpieces and contra-angle handpieces. Ever since, I have chosen W&H equipment throughout my professional journey. In my private practice, I use the Implantmed surgical motor, as well as Lisa and Assistina for practice hygiene.

In the clinic, our investments include two Implantmed devices with the Piezomed module, surgical instruments, three cutting-edge Lisa sterilizers, a thermal washer disinfector, and the Assistina.”

Convincing Quality across all Product Lines

“In 2023, the W&H sales team introduced us to the new Piezomed module. Previously, we had been using standalone devices. Their recommendation proved to be valuable – the combination of the Implantmed with the Piezomed module streamlined and simplified our workflow. Of course, it required some adjustment: with the W&H product, the tubing must be pre-flushed at the push of a button, which was different from what we were used to. In our dental clinic, multiple practitioners often work on the same device, so we greatly appreciate the option to set up user profiles. An instrument tray for left-handed users would be a welcome addition. The control of both devices via a single foot control is well-implemented. Since we purchased two devices simultaneously, this was a bit complex at first – if the assistant swapped device and foot control, the unit wouldn’t work. Sticky labels helped to solve this issue.”

Simplicity is the key to true value

“Whether you are an experienced clinician or a junior dentist, everyone can master the devices and instruments in no time. In our profession, it is essential that everything is as simple as possible. By that, I mean the operation – not the technology and engineering behind it. W&H products are intuitive, work reliable, and you can count on them. How do I know? As clinic director, I primarily hear about things that aren’t going well. Conversely, the fact that I almost never hear anything about W&H products tells me that everything is running flawlessly.”
