Endodonti möter piezokirurgi på en hands-on kurs
In the past decade following the highest standards in the field of endodontics W&H has developed numerous advances, the scope of which have reached all facets of endodontic treatment in both conventional and surgical aspects. This change could not be more evident than in the field of surgical endodontics, where both theoretical and practical aspects have been completely transformed by introducing of piezosurgical devices specifically designed to be precise, powerful and safe.
These technological advances which revolutionized the way surgical endodontic treatment is performed were demonstrated during the practical course on the 7th October 2017 organized by W&H Bulgaria in cooperation with the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Plovdiv at the Hotel Forum in Sofia (Bulgaria). Two leading Bulgarian specialists Georgi Tomov, endodontics specialist, and Ivan Nachkov, oral surgeon, have combined didactic lectures and hands-on courses on current standards and techniques in apical surgery using the advanced W&H piezosurgical devices under an operating dental microscope.
During the course the participants received comprehensive information on current principles of endodontic microsurgery, including diagnosis, case selection and treatment planning of endodontic microsurgical cases. Beside scientific data, the focus was on introducing the piezo surgery technique in various clinical modalities, supported by step-by-step presentations, followed by a hands-on part, where participants had the possibility to practice the presented treatment concepts on animal mandibles. Retrograde cavity preparation, handling and placement of biocompatible retro-filling materials like MTA and bioceramics were also used.
First hand clinical knowledge from
Georgi Tomov and Ivan Nachkov
The course had a significant impact on the participants and the organizers received the highest praise and recognition. The next edition of the course will be held in Varna (Bulgaria) during the upcoming VarnaDent dental exhibition in 2018.
